Nonsurgical treatment that uses a special light to improve the tone and texture of your skin. Haus Esthetics uses the Venus Versa™ IPL function with SMARTPULSE™ to break up hyperpigmentation and vascular lesions without surgery.

 

How is IPL therapy different from laser therapy?

IPL therapy and laser technology are similar treatments in that they are both light-based procedures that can treat a wide range of skin conditions.

The main difference between the two is that IPL therapy uses a broad spectrum of pulsed light wavelengths to cover wider areas of the skin, while laser therapy precisely targets specific areas of the skin.

 

What can IPL therapy treat?

Haus Esthetics uses IPL therapy to treat skin tone and texture concerns around the face, neck, and hands.  Many people also turn to IPL therapy to minimize the appearance of dark birthmarks and port-wine stains. IPL therapy may be the right nonsurgical treatment for you if you have:

How should I prepare for IPL therapy?

Sun exposure can interfere with your IPL results and damage your skin. For the best results, avoid tanning beds and lying out in the sun for at least four weeks before your initial IPL treatment. It’s also important not to wax or apply any irritants (perfume, makeup, etc.) to your skin before visiting the office.

Talk to your St. Pete Wellness & MedSpa provider about any medications you’re currently taking before your first treatment to avoid complications.

 

What happens during IPL therapy?

Most IPL treatments take about 20-30 minutes, but larger treatment areas can take up to an hour or more. Before beginning your treatment, your provider uses a local anesthetic to numb your skin. IPL shouldn’t be overly painful, but it can feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin.

Finally, your provider rubs a clear gel on your skin and gives you dark glasses to protect your eyes. Then they run the handheld light over the treatment area to break up unwanted pigmentation.

When will I see results after IPL therapy?

Immediately after your treatment, your skin may look and feel like you have a sunburn.
